I have an amazing Ferragamo story! Living in Switzerland in the deepest winter my bag was stolen on the train, whoever stole it just grabbed the cash and threw it out. 3 mi the later when all the snow melted some teenagers where walking by train trams and saw the bag and took it to the police, still had my ID inside and they called me so I could have it back… the bag was STILL in perfect state! Even after being in the snow, ice and rain for 3 months! I cleaned it and still use it to this day. I was amazed at the quality!!!
Basically, if you don't put the genuine bag next to the *gtdupe* and use a magnifying glass to find the difference, you won't be able to tell the difference! Trust your eyes, dear!!
I’ve always considered Ferragamo to be a “legacy” luxury brand due to their maintaining family ownership and excellent quality unlike a lot of other luxury brands. I’m not familiar with Ferragamo handbags but my mother, who grew up during the depression era in the US, would save her money and wait for Ferragamo shoes to go on sale at one of the high end clothing stores like Saks. She kept her Ferragamo shoes in pristine condition and wore them with pride. I still have a few pairs of her Ferragamo shoes and I’m keeping them to gift to a woman who would truly appreciate them and also appreciate my mother’s eye for style and value.
I inherited a few pairs from my grandmother. They have lasted beautifully. With the exception of my favourite pair of 1960s suede flats that I lost in a flood. She had slightly smaller feet than me, but in the grand tradition of soft leathers, the shoes she gave me adjusted over a few years, and it was worth it. 😅 Mima lived in NYC and was a superb sale shopper with exquisite taste. She passed this last July and I miss her horribly. I think of her every time I wear a piece that I inherited from her, and everything she gave me always draws compliments from people. She bought from artisans mostly, and was INCREDIBLY choosy when buying from a label. She swore by her Ferregamo finds, some of which she brought back from Italy, and they have all held up beautifully. ❤
Yes I fully agree I have their loafers and Chelsea Boots comfiest boots Iand loafers I owned slipped them on my feet when going for tailoring on a suit and within seconds I knew I had to do whatever it took to own them. And they have lasted forever and my feet have never felt this comfy. I would never go back to non Ferragamo loafers and Chelsea Boots.
I’m from Italy and my boyfriend used to work from Ferragamo, he still has shoes from more than 10 years ago in amazing conditions. It’s one of the Best brand, thank you for this video 🙏🏻
795?! You can’t even get secondhand bags from them at that price, that must have been the deal of the year. I would have reflexively bought it if I saw that in stores 😂
It was at Madrid airport. And yes, I was insanely surprised seeing that price. Usually most of the European brands are much cheaper in Europe especially at Duty Free airport stores. So if you are ever travelling to Europe, make sure to allow enough time to check out a few stores if you are into those brands.
Back in the day, products were high in quality, and much lower in price. Remember when $300 got you a large, quality Coach bag? Now, three times that much gets you a thin leather bag with some PU leather in the bag, and no feet on the bottom of the bag. Just garbage. They haven’t used that good thick leather in DECADES.
Sweetheart there is no difference between the CC’s buckle on the *esluxy* and real one. You’re seeing things that aren’t there. If a professional came in and told you the CC was a real, you’d probably agree.
Thankyou!! Ferragamo is so underrated! you never see youtubers raving about its leather or designs- simply because its so called market value/resale isn't great; sadly these are the time we are living in! In my opinion as well Ferragamo has one of the best quality AND design details too!! You are incredible xoxo!
Glad you like it! And I am happy that you all guide me to find and learn about these incredible brands so we can all explore and recognize their quality work! I appreciate your support!
I've been a major Ferragamo fan since back when I started buying Ferragamo shoes and handbags around 1980, in my mid 20s. I still have some Ferragamo bags and whatever bags I sold, it wasn't due to quality as they last for decades, but due to just wanting to get some new Ferragamo bags. Ferragamo lived up in Santa Barbara and then moved here to Hollywood and also went to university at USC. There was a strong Ferragamo connection here. I've always felt that Ferragamo has been very underrated. But, then again, Ferragamo doesn't constantly mass produce a lot of "IT" bags like many other design houses do. Greetings from Los Angeles
Thank you for your comment and support. I really like everything I hear from you guys about this brand on top of a really nice review. They win me as a customer, I will be buying more of their stuff
I wouldn’t have let you destroy that bag! I’m crying right now! Ferragamo was my first luxury purchase 20 years ago, I still use that piece! I think they are underestimated for sure! People are missing out on a great value!
I bought a Ferragamo wallet at duty free airport shop 18 years ago and it’s still in great shape. I’ve since purchased a few more from them but that original wallet is my favorite by far because it’s my first from them and made me fall in love with the brand.
Thanks for sharing! And I am afraid I may follow your path and become a customer now. I will be entering their shops every time I am in Europe to hunt for some good deals...
This dissection makes me a really proud ferragamo owner. I have a boxyz mini, and it is extremely well crafted, as you've put it. The ONLY downside is that it is heavy for its size, but i guess the weight came from all the good materials they're using as confirmed by you ❤ i wish ferragamo gets seen more with your video ❤❤❤
I had a pair of Ferragamo heels back in the late 90’s and wore them a lot. They remained in tact over time like they were still new. They were leather, but somehow appeared to be suede with a pattern embossed in them. If I only knew items like that would be so hard to find today.👠
My favourite part of watching Mr. Leatherstein is how positive he is. Hes been in business for years, even in Turkmenistan, so he knows how to give a critique and also to fix problems while being encouraging.
Really appreciate you going deeper into the hardware as well! I find hardware and glazing are the first things to go on mid-range brands, that still cost hundreds of dollars (the finish wears off and reveals a pink material underneath), which is such a shame, because the rest of the bag might be perfectly fine. Another great video, really appreciate it!
Thank you for your valuable feedback here. Hardware is something I am trying to learn more about. One for my own brand as it is one of the most challenging parts to get right in bag making especially for mid and new branda as you noted. Thanks to these videos, I got to know some incredible friends who are expert in high quality hardware. So I am learning as quickly as I can to improve my assessment ability in these reviews as well as the quality of my own bags.
I have a keyholder from this brand that has lasted about 11 years so far, of daily use. The hardware is incredible and the clasp closes just as tightly as the day I got it. Since then, I'd been interested in the brand's quality, but not so much their styles until Maximilian Davis became creative director and have since bought a few items from their 2023 Spring/Summer line. The leather from this luxury brand is definitely one of the best, for its price range.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the brand. It sheds further light into their designs as well. I will be watching closely to get a few more items from them soon as I am impressed with leather, design, quality and occasional chance of catching good deals on these products
New designer? I'll have to check them out again. They've been known as an older woman's bag - as told to me by various people - so perhaps they'll be updated?
Thanks for letting us know that your wife gets a few use of the bags before they get dissected. I have always wondered. It hurts my soul to think that these dissected bags didnt get a use or two. Totally fell in love w this bag. Included it in my wishlist to maybe buy from second hand market in future. Thanks
Hey, loving these videos and seeing the costs to make it. When you say “my total comes to $255 to make this in Italy” could you do a video on actually making your own bag ? Like the process from design to completion ? Maybe that’s a big ask for a video but binge watching you now
Thanks for doing SF too. I've always love bags from SF, especially the vintage ones. ❤ This has been very helpful to know more about the bags than surface level appreciation.
Fell in love with Ferragamo decades ago in Milan and still have my handbags in impeccable condition. They’re timeless / classic. I love that logos / brand never over-stage design or quality. Their pieces speak for themselves without converting one into a billboard advertisement.
I have been waiting for this. Since I was a kid, I heard this brand and I really like its design. Now after watching your video, I will try to find a bag that I want.
I wanted to cry when you cut this bag up. And it has silver hardware too - I hate gold hardware on everything all the time, especially on cool toned colors.
I exclusively wear Ferragamo shoes because you can buy them in wide and are indestructible. The prices have gone up tremendously, so thank God I rarely have to replace the items. The bags are absolutely gorgeous, especially when they have their printed leathers which are to die for. I hope they don’t go tooo trendy, they are classy and very luxurious. It’s been my secret brand for years!!!
Glad you like them! And I gotta admit Ferragamo is on the way to winning me as a customer now. I guess, that also explains why I loved the counterfeit jacket so much even before I even heard about this brand. An old friend attempted to copy a really nice original ending up with a very appealing counterfeit, who knew!

Can you please do a review on the Teddy Blake brand I’m interested in them but not sure. I have this exact bag in the exact colour! I did pay more for it though; you got it for such a steal! I have other Ferragamo bags and cherish them dearly. I have other two Vera bow bags from the brand for many years now and the quality has not declined even after using them in places where I had to be carefree.
I love this brand. It is sublime. Curious what you think about their shoes. I love this bag and it's colour. It's a sad sacrifice but its for the sake of science. Thank you for doing this
I found Ferragamo when I was searching for a new wallet. Almost walked out of the store when I saw the price tag, but my fiancee convinced me to buy it. I've had it for 8 years now, use it everyday! I also proudly own a pair of their calf skin leather shoes, and suede/leather shoes. They feel like clouds on my feet. When I go on long road trips, they are the only shoe I won't kick off in the car. Ferragamo makes amazing products. Expensive yes, but older styles can be found at a discount, and with a product meant to last a lifetime, there's no reason to have "the newest thing". Its an expensive investment, but if you take care of it, these products will literally last a lifetime.
You should do a tier list of brands or sources of leather in terms of quality if not already! I’m sure it will help people stay informed of what to spend their money on. I love your videos and admire what you do a lot by the way, thank you⭐️

Hello Mr Tanner, would you ever consider creating a medium sized 😊satchel in your own line of products. I just took a look at your site and I LOVE the simplicity of your bags. ❤
I know! I delayed this dissection as much as I could for the same reason. I adored the bag so much and didn't want to cut. Plus, my wife loved it and stopped me until this week :)
Thought I'd share: Teddy Baker. Seems very affordable I own small grey bag. 450.00. Is value. At a thrift store. Bag was $4.99 there calf skin I watch videos quality. But know. You be judge of this whole lot of mini satchel. For less. Red alligator. My favorite. "Teddy Baker"
I don’t have their leather goods although I have been eyeing their new collection and it looks gorgeous! I have a silk scarf by them and it’s an amazing piece. I will check out their new collection when I’m in Europe
Love my Ferragamo Studio bags!😊. Agree with the hardware assessment. I was a little disappointed some of the hardware is not as substantial as I expected for the price tag. Also, they can do better with their edge coat painting.
I have collected real- leather luxurious brands just because of the feel of leather and the longevity. Among the luxurious brands, Salvatore is one of my most favorite: Classic design, authentic leather. I actually like it more than Chanel.
I believe that the reason for using a softer alloy than stainless steel is that people who own high-end glass top tables.(Like Lalique's Cactus table) got tired of sanding them in order to remove the multiple scraches left by other brand of purse makers..
Very nice video. I'm a huge fun of Ferragamo for a long time. Could u please do a video for Valextra? I would like to know more about the quality of this brand from Milan
Please do a sort of power ranking of all the luxury brands that you've done so far. It would help me, and maybe other gents who watch your stuff, shop for our wife when the need arises lol.

Okay i adore this brand, and this is gonna hurt watching you cut this up
I know! I delayed this dissection as much as I could for the same reason. I adored the bag so much and didn't want to cut. Plus, my wife loved it and stopped me until this week :)
@tanner.leatherstein I have a vintage bag from them on the preloved market you can get them for a few hundred
I recommend the visit in Europe. It seems like potential great deals await in Europe duty free stores :)
Ome of my favourite brands.❤
Absolutely, might be one of my favorites now in the luxury space 😁
Love my Ferragamo Studio bags!😊. Agree with the hardware assessment. I was a little disappointed some of the hardware is not as substantial as I expected for the price tag. Also, they can do better with their edge coat painting.
maybe they tried to reduce weight with lighter hardware since the bag is pretty heavy for this size 😅
@@sofiapillichshammer6169 That is a valid point. I thought the same thing.
Ferragamo is THE best!
Please do a sort of power ranking of all the luxury brands that you've done so far. It would help me, and maybe other gents who watch your stuff, shop for our wife when the need arises lol.
he needs to have more subscribers
